A professional with over 25 years of industry experience as a senior member of the corporate teams mainly in media and telecom sectors. As a Chartered Accountant, he started his career with A.F. Ferguson & Co., India (now Deloitte) before joining the Indian Express Group in 1988, the largest newspaper group in the country then. He has worked with the Indian Express group till 1998 in different capacities as General Manager holding charge of Corporate Affairs and new projects. Surendra joined HFCL Infotel Limited as its CFO in the year 2000. He took over as a CEO of HFCL Infotel Limited in 2004 and was responsible for the group’s foray into pan India telecom services.
After the groups exit from 2G Telecom business in 2009, Surendra took over as the Managing Director of Infotel Business Solutions Limited (IBSL), a self-promoted venture mainly into incubating new businesses. IBSL was instrumental in promoting Infotel Broadband Services Limited in 2009 (now Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited), India’s largest 4G Telecom network. Over last few years has incubated a number of businesses under IBSL in various domains viz. Mobile Content (nexGTv), Ecommerce (koovs.com), Mobile Banking (mPurse), Security and Surveillance (Polixel), BPO (Digicall), Trading in Handsets and white goods (NexG Devices, Media Matrix Hong Kong, Media Matrix Singapore), Customer support automation/analytics (One Click Technologies, Intellicare Singapore) etc.
Very recently, IBSL through its Singapore associate, Media Matrix Singapore has invested in the US technology start-up Avlino (Big Data and AI), based out of New Jersey.
In the past two decades, Ramana Jampala has founded, led investments, or was a Board of Director of numerous technology companies in Silicon Valley and New York/New Jersey in the US.
Ramana is currently the founding President and CEO of Avlino Inc., and the founding Managing Partner of Aurum Capital Partners.
Prior to Avlino, Ramana was the President and CEO of Altior Inc., which was acquired by Exar. Earlier, Ramana was a General Partner with SAS Investors, a technology focused Venture Capital fund in New York City. SAS Investors invested in numerous successful companies including Tacit Networks (acquired by Packateer), Velox Semiconductors (acquired by Power Semiconductors), HydroGlobe (acquired by Graver Technologies), Textronics (acquired by Adidas), Protonex (public company) and Enpirion (acquired by Altera). Ramana has led and served as the Board of Director on many of these investments.
Prior to SAS Investors, Ramana worked with Viant as a Strategy Lead in San Francisco to implement digital initiatives of Fortune 500 companies and high-technology start-ups. Ramana began his career at Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) in the Control and Communications Group, working as a Systems Engineer for seven years.
Well recognized for his accomplishments, Ramana was awarded the “Financier of the Year” by New Jersey Technology Council, for leading more than $250m investments in early stage companies in New Jersey, which led to one of the largest high-technology job growth in the region. Ramana frequently teaches Technology Entrepreneurship at leading Business Schools in the US, and is a Board of Advisors of numerous technology institutions.
Ramana holds an MBA from London Business School, and graduated with distinction with a BS in Electronics Engineering from Pune University, India.
Rakesh Kapoor is a serial entrepreneur with 35+ years of IT industry experience in India and the US. Being a business and technology strategist for Indian and Asian Languages technologies and Media industry, Rakesh is one of the early entrant in Software Product development space in India.
Rakesh is highly focused on taking Internet and mobile businesses to tier 2 and below geographies for two reasons. One, there is a fortune for businesses in this segment. Two, mobile and Internet will help social and economic growth of a billion people in India. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
Rakesh has worked with DCM Data Products in the early 80’s in India and the US, followed by Indian associate of Apple Computers in the late 80’s. Founded Summit Information Technologies in the 90’s for system integration services to help bring Desktop Publishing revolution to India. In the early 2000’s, Summit was transformed into a media technology leader developing print and broadcast workflow solutions for Asian media industry. As smartphones stepped into the country, he founded Process Nine Technologies to provide language tools and solutions on the mobile and Internet platform to take Internet to the hinterland and lead Process Nine to the language technology leadership in the country.
Rakesh has long been associated with Nasscom, was Co-chair of Nasscom Haryana chapter and continues to be a member of the regional council. He has been a charter member of TiE Delhi. He regularly speaks at technology conferences and mentors start-up companies to help build a robust start-up ecosystem in Delhi/NCR. As a Gurgaon resident, Rakesh is passionately involved in making Gurgaon a better place to live and work through city infrastructure improvement. He’s an M. Tech (Computer Science) from BITS Pilani and is a trustee of BITSAA Alumni Trust.
Sunil Batra has a successful track record of over 3 decades in senior management roles, with a blend of Strategy, Sales, Operations, Marketing and Business Management experience. Has worked with some of the strongest names in Indian market place – Home grown success Stories like Onida and Thums Up and also MNCs like Hindustan Levers (HUL), Bata India, Kellogg’s, Coca-Cola and Tata Docomo with their sweep of global vision and operations. He was also on board of Virgin Mobiles.
Till recently, the Managing Director of Digicall Teleservices Private Limited and Director of Digivive Services Private Limited. The last assignment was as President – Operations for Tata Teleservices.
